This 10-month old Beagle puppy is called Old Blue, but before his rescue he was just a number. He arrived to us from the midwest on Feb 24th still wearing an auction tag.
Blue is a not a Basset Hound, but we won’t hold that against him! He is a small tri-color Beagle, about 12” tall and weighing 15 pounds. His date of birth is 4/30/25.
He is sweet, playful, and energetic. He is still skittish but will warm up and snuggle with you once you have him. He is learning to tolerate a leash, for which a harness has been helpful. He has allowed us to bathe him and trim his nails without complaint.
Blue eats dry kibble with excellent appetite. He does not accept treats from us directly yet, but will take them if set down for him. He sleeps well all night in his crate. He is mostly cooperative with a playpen, though he would rather run and explore. He would benefit from a secure fenced yard where he can safely run. He enjoys hard rubber chew toys.
He mostly eliminates outside, and will go whenever you take him, but has an occasional accident in the house. He has asked at times by standing near the door, which could be built upon for training. Blue is overall very quiet, but will bark and cry if left alone for long.
Blue is learning that living in a house with people who love him is great. He enjoys living with another dog and sticks close by him. He is making good progress on all fronts in the short time he has been in foster!
