I’m Kendal, a 9-year-old female Basset Hound who’s finally discovering how wonderful life can be!

I spent most of my life in a breeder’s kennel, so I arrived in foster care a bit skittish and unsure. But in just a few short weeks, I’ve been making lovely progress. I’m good with people and other dogs — I get along wonderfully with my foster hound brother and have no issues sharing space. I’m easy to leash (very little pulling  — I happily trot along), I come when called, and I’m starting to show my fun personality more every day.

Lately I’ve been getting more playful and even having zoomies — those silly bursts of happy running that make my foster family laugh! I’ve rolled over for belly rubs, and I’ve started climbing onto the bed to relax and sleep (as long as someone reassures me it’s okay first).

I’m still working on housebreaking. Because I lived in a kennel for so long, I’m not fully comfortable going potty outside yet and tend to hold it until I’m back inside where I feel safe. My foster dad is patient and consistent with a gentle routine, and we’re making slow, steady steps forward. An understanding adopter who can continue this work with kindness and patience would be perfect for me. As I love to be outside, a fenced yard would be perfect.

I would thrive best in a calm, predictable home with gentle handling and no rushing. In return, you’ll get a loyal, low-energy senior girl who’s opening up more each day — complete with occasional zoomies and a sweet, affectionate nature once I trust you.

I’m spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and ready to settle into my retirement home filled with short leisurely walks, soft beds, and plenty of reassurance. If you have experience with shy or senior dogs and are looking for a gentle companion who’s good with people and other dogs, I am the one for you!

The veterinarian check will include verifying the applicant’s past/present dog(s) is/are altered (spayed/neutered), current on vaccines (not just Rabies), tested negative for Heartworm & on monthly preventatives.

Meet & greets are only scheduled for approved applicants.
