Meet Murphy! A joyful, year and a half, 47 lb basset who can’t wait to meet you. He greets every stranger with delight, falling into your lap as soon as you let him. He’s content getting cuddles but is always up for a rousing game of fetch, tug or zoomies. When he’s all tuckered out, he will see himself to his crate for bedtime. When it’s time to go potty, Murphy will wait patiently by the door to be let out. He’s good on walks, although he will pull at the sight of squirrels. Murphy has settled in very well with his canine foster brother Zero, sharing toys, treats and affection. He hasn’t been tested with cats, but his gentle nature suggests his curiosity would give way to kinship. He’s good with kids, but his level of play can be too much for the small ones. Murphy doesn’t do stairs very well. He can lunge his way up the small 3-stair from the porch, but he has yet to brave the full staircase to the second story. He doesn’t seem to mind though. He has been mostly trustworthy alone downstairs, only getting into one plant that was within reach. He’s crated when home alone, but again, he views the crate as his safespace so it’s never an issue. Lastly, he is brazen when it comes to counter surfing. Keep objects out of reach and your head on a swivel! Murphy has been an absolute delight to foster. He and Zero play like brothers, and Murphy has been loving and affectionate toward all of us. A true joy to have around. Whoever brings him into their home will have a wonderful companion for many years ahead!

The veterinarian check will include verifying the applicant’s past/present dog(s) is/are altered (spayed/neutered), current on vaccines (not just Rabies), tested negative for Heartworm & on monthly preventatives.
