Maye is a female, spayed, basset hound that was born on 4/29/18. She is approximately 30 pounds. She is from a puppy mill and therefore will require at least one other canine companion in the home and a physically fenced in yard. Maye is a shy girl and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Maye is being fostered with an 11 year old male basset and two cats. She shows no interest in the cats. She is also being fostered with children ages 11, 9, and 7 years old. Maye is shy with children and adults. Her foster family is working on bringing her out of her shell Maye will need a family that will show her patience and understanding. Maye is being fostered in Alden, NY.
Maye loves to go for walks and to explore. She walks well on a leash. She pulls a little on the leash, if she wants to run, but is easily corrected. Maye does still act like a puppy in terms of chewing. Maye is still working on her house training and is getting a bit better each day. Maye loves to eat snow and ice! Maye goes into her crate at times to sleep, but must be encouraged to go in at night or when her foster family leaves.
